When I was preparing to take my group this evening I was doing a search around for tips on starting a blog.. It can be very easy to run out of steam and topics when blogging, so coming up with a list and sub topics for each will help a lot.
So here’s the tips I found when I was digging online..
•Define your goals
What do you want to get out of blogging, is it a method of communicating with your customers or is it a personal point of view.
You may want to become a hought leader / expert in field by blogging
•Listen
When blogging its a good idea to listen to comments and what other people are saying, this might be listening online, reading comments on other sites and asking customers what it is that they want to read about.
•Know your audience
Who’s your audience, do you know what they want to read about, what will cause them to jump into action?
•Read & learn from other peoples blogs
I love reading other peoples blogs especially business related to my work. They can be very informative and now and again I will repost a blog entry to my site obviously giving the credit to the author!
•Be consistent
Unlike my poor efforts of blogging, you need to be consistent in your posts. Will you post once a day, once a week or once a month, set the expectations..
•Be inviting
When writing, write as you woul talk to someone rather than talking at someone..
•Be yourself
honesty is the best policy so be you..its much easier to be yourself and write rather than putting on another persona. People buy from people.
•Ask for help
Dont be afraid to ask for help whether it be someone reading your posts or assisting with developing topics.
I’m sure there are plenty more tip and hints on getting started, this is just a few to get you started..
